On arrival, check into your accommodation, settle in, and enjoy the sunset over the vast savannah.
An early morning game drive presents an opportunity to see elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, and an array of antelopes grazing in the cool morning air. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation before an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. This cruise is a highlight, with close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birds, all thriving in their natural habitat.
Enjoy another morning game drive, focusing on areas where you might spot wildlife not encountered the previous day. After brunch at the lodge, embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey through the verdant countryside and terraced hillsides offers stunning views and leads you to the home of the endangered mountain gorillas.
An early start leads you into the dense forest of Bwindi, known for its gorilla trekking. Trekking can take anywhere from a few hours to a whole day, depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, spend an unforgettable hour observing them in their natural surroundings. After the trek, proceed to the tranquil Lake Bunyonyi, dotted with small islands and surrounded by terraced hills. Overnight at a lakeside resort.
Lake Bunyonyi, known for its serenity and beauty, offers a day of relaxation or engaging in optional activities such as canoeing, hiking, bird watching, or cultural visits to nearby communities. It’s a perfect day to unwind and reflect on the journey so far.
After breakfast, continue your safari by crossing into Rwanda. Proceed to Volcanoes National Park, a critical habitat for the mountain gorillas and your base for the next phase of gorilla trekking. This day is designed to offer flexibility with a choice of participating in additional gorilla trekking or selecting other activities such as hiking to Dian Fossey’s tomb, visiting the golden monkeys, or exploring local villages to experience Rwandan culture and traditions.
Transfer to Goma, crossing the border into the Democratic Republic of Congo. Check into your accommodation in Virunga National Park, renowned for its lush forests and unique wildlife. Prepare for your trek the following day and enjoy the hospitality and scenic views of your surroundings.
