This unique safari experience encompasses thrilling wildlife encounters, stunning landscapes, and cultural insights. From gorilla and chimpanzee tracking to exploring vast national parks, each day promises an unforgettable adventure that will leave you with lasting memories.
Upon your arrival in Rwanda, you will be greeted at the airport by our safari guide who will brief you about your upcoming adventure. You will then be transferred to Nyungwe Forest National Park. This ancient rainforest is one of the best preserved montane rainforests in Central Africa and is renowned for its biodiversity.
The second day starts with an exhilarating walk along Nyungwe’s famous canopy walkway. Suspended above a ravine in the lush montane forest, the canopy walk provides a stunning view of the surrounding flora and fauna, possibly spotting birds and monkeys in their natural habitat.
Begin your day early with a guided chimpanzee tracking experience in Nyungwe Forest. After an exciting morning with the chimpanzees, you’ll cross the border into the Democratic Republic of Congo and head to Bukavu, a city on the banks of Lake Kivu.
In Bukavu, prepare for a unique wildlife encounter as you visit Kahuzi Biega National Park for lowland gorilla tracking. This park is one of the last refuges of the rare Eastern Lowland Gorillas, and observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat is a profound and unforgettable experience.
After the remarkable gorilla encounter, you will cross back into Rwanda and travel to Volcanoes National Park. This park is part of the Virunga Conservation Area and home to the mountain gorillas.
Your sixth day is dedicated to tracking the beautiful golden monkeys, another endangered species found within the park. In the afternoon, engage with local communities for a cultural tour, gaining insight into the traditional ways of life and the people’s relationship with their natural surroundings.
Travel back to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, where you can relax and perhaps visit some local markets or museums, depending on your arrival time.
On the eighth day, catch a flight to Uganda and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, famous for its gorilla populations and striking biodiversity.
Embark on the highlight of your Ugandan visit – gorilla trekking in Bwindi. This demanding trek through the dense forest is rewarded with the incredible experience of spending time observing gorillas as they interact in their natural environment.
Post-gorilla trekking, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enter the Ishasha sector, renowned for its tree-climbing lions. A game drive here provides a chance to see these unique lions along with other wildlife like elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes.
Start your morning with a lion tracking experience and then enjoy an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where you can see a variety of birds, hippos, and other wildlife congregating at the water’s edge.
On your final 12 days, depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and head back to Kampala, Uganda’s capital, marking the end of your grand safari across Uganda, Rwanda, and D.R. Congo. This journey offers more than just wildlife encounters; it’s a profound immersion into the heart of Africa.
