Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Upon your arrival in Rwanda, you will be greeted at the airport by our safari guide who will brief you about your upcoming adventure. You will then be transferred to Nyungwe Forest National Park. This ancient rainforest is one of the best preserved montane rainforests in Central Africa and is renowned for its biodiversity.

Day 2: Canopy Walkway in Nyungwe Forest

The second day starts with an exhilarating walk along Nyungwe’s famous canopy walkway. Suspended above a ravine in the lush montane forest, the canopy walk provides a stunning view of the surrounding flora and fauna, possibly spotting birds and monkeys in their natural habitat.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Travel to Bukavu

Begin your day early with a guided chimpanzee tracking experience in Nyungwe Forest. After an exciting morning with the chimpanzees, you’ll cross the border into the Democratic Republic of Congo and head to Bukavu, a city on the banks of Lake Kivu.

Day 4: Lowland Gorilla Tracking in Kahuzi Biega National Park

In Bukavu, prepare for a unique wildlife encounter as you visit Kahuzi Biega National Park for lowland gorilla tracking. This park is one of the last refuges of the rare Eastern Lowland Gorillas, and observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat is a profound and unforgettable experience.

Day 5: Return to Rwanda and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After the remarkable gorilla encounter, you will cross back into Rwanda and travel to Volcanoes National Park. This park is part of the Virunga Conservation Area and home to the mountain gorillas.

On the eighth day, catch a flight to Uganda and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, famous for its gorilla populations and striking biodiversity.
