5 Days Group Uganda Safaris

Embark on an exhilarating 5-day group safari across the biodiverse landscapes of Uganda, an adventure that blends close encounters with primates and the stunning natural beauty of one of Africa’s most lush nations. This safari journey, beginning and ending in Entebbe, offers participants a unique opportunity to track chimpanzees in Kibale National Park and to trek mountain gorillas in the world-renowned Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 1: Meeting in Entebbe

Your adventure starts in Entebbe, a quiet town located on the shores of Lake Victoria. Participants gather here, typically at a predetermined hotel or directly at Entebbe International Airport. The day is often reserved for meet-and-greets with fellow travellers and a briefing session led by the safari guide. This session covers logistical details, safety protocols, and what to expect over the coming days. Depending on arrival times, you might have the afternoon or evening free to explore local attractions such as the Entebbe Botanical Gardens or the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre.

Day 2: Drive to Kibale National Park

After an early breakfast in Entebbe, the journey heads west towards Kibale National Park, known for having one of the highest diversity and concentration of primates in Africa. The drive itself is an opportunity to witness Uganda’s changing landscapes—from the bustling city outskirts to the lush green countryside dotted with tea plantations and traditional homesteads. Upon arrival, you’ll check into your lodge with time to relax before a nocturnal walk in the forest, if available, where you might spot bush babies and nocturnal birds.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale

The third day is a highlight for wildlife enthusiasts: chimpanzee tracking in Kibale. Following an early morning start, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing from the rangers. Tracking the chimpanzees as they swing from the trees and go about their daily routines provides an intimate glimpse into their world. The park is also home to 12 other primate species, which you might see during your trek. After spending time with the chimpanzees, the afternoon can be spent on a guided nature walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, known for its rich birdlife and other wildlife.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On day four, you will travel from Kibale to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the renowned home of the mountain gorilla. This leg of the journey offers dramatic views of the Ugandan highlands. In Bwindi, the dense rainforest landscape provides a dramatic backdrop for the following day’s gorilla trekking. The evening before the trek, you’ll enjoy dinner at your lodge and a briefing on the next day’s activities.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking and Return to Entebbe

Gorilla trekking day begins early as you head to the park headquarters for a comprehensive briefing and group allocation. Trekking through Bwindi’s misty, ancient forests can be challenging but also immensely rewarding. Encountering the gorillas in their natural habitat is an awe-inspiring, once-in-a-lifetime experience. After the trek, you’ll embark on the return journey to Entebbe. This long drive is a perfect time to reflect on the incredible experiences of the past few days. The safari officially ends upon arrival in Entebbe, where you’ll catch your departing flights or extend your stay to enjoy more of Uganda’s hospitality.

This safari is more than just a wildlife excursion; it’s a profound journey through the heart of Uganda, offering deep connections with nature and insights into the importance of conservation efforts in preserving these unique environments and species.
